Yep

YET MORE Questions

And yes, I do actually want your opinions on all these questions.

What is it that happens when we go from child to "adult that we unlearn the ida of vacations?

I was reading an article recently (which if anyone is interested I will put a link up for) and as I was packing for my trip to MD I remembered what it was like to go on vacation during school. I would get so excited I couldn't sleep the night before we would leave.

When we are kids we don't think about school while we're on vacation, so why is it we think about "work" or our jobs while we are on vacation? I think - as the article said (they didn't compare it to kids, just the part about actually vacation with relaxing and minus worrying and stuff) - the point of vacation is to re-juvinate and re-enegize us. This is my own words of course, but you get the idea.

Maybe that's why kids are so much more relaxed and feel comfortable having hobbies and passions and wanting to truly live their lives to the fullest because they are able to let go when they go on vacation.

So what is it that changes? What is it that happens to make us become these big balls of never-ending worry, be it bills or friends, or relationships. What is it that no longer allows us to just enjoy something without feeling guilty for doing so?

OK - back to packing and then more typing.

btw - if all this typing and questioning gets annoying b/c I'm sure it's filling up peoples friends pages, let me know and I will put them under cuts.

As previusly stated, I start writing and I get overly curious, lol.

I hope everyone is doing wonderful.

:)~

My initial thought was that children haven't been beaten down and forced to fit into the box yet.

But I don't think that's necessarily it...

Regarding summer vacation, there is a difference (aside from length of time) between that and when we take vacation as adults; and that is a sense of completion.

You finish 3rd grade, you're done. You never have to worry about 3rd grade again. You go on vacation as an adult...that project is still there for you when you get back; those reports are just piling up.

When I've (given notice and) quit jobs, I still gotten that sense of excitement that I used to when I was a kid being let out for the summer. I'm excited, I can't sit still, time drags, I can't concentrate. And I think that a big part of that is the feeling of completion.

I've often said that the only time you can truly enjoy a vacation is in the time between finishing one job and starting another.

Or it's the short attention spans....

Aside from wanting to stay productive (in the self-developmental / intellectual sense), I have no problem with vacations.

Of course, pragmatically, it is difficult to do so unless you have the funds.

a big part of this question is the aspect of "living in the moment"--kids do this much moreso than adults do.

and whoever said it before, it does have a bit to do with that fact that as adults many of us have been stuffed into the box. by being brainwashed by MOther Culture, too many have unlearned how to live in the present & constantly look to the past or future.

tonight

i be arriving in town tonight

i be leaving town thursday

call either my parents house or my cell phone tomorrow - i'm definitely going to want to do ihop, but other stuff as well.

most likely i will just invite people to whatever i may be doing b/c i really just want to relax and not going running all over the place and feel pressured if i don't get enough time or enough people fit in. i would LOVE to see everyone, and give each person individual attention, but i know that's not feasible. that's what visiting me is for .

that said

yes, call me at some point.

i hope you be well :)
