Now, don't mock. I grew up a mere 5 minutes from there. It was named after the Hicks family. You don't care, and really I don't either, I just thought I'd share.

Gotta love the friendsfriends page.

Hi. :)

Now, the question would be . . . How did they get the family name Hick?

Though . . . it probably meat something different then.

Thank you for sharing though

:)~

Well, I worked for them for awhile. Trust me, whatever it meant back in the day? They've worked to deserve what it means today.

I don't think that made any sense except in my head. Sorry.

my friend always used to make fun of hicksville...but she preferred to talk about coxsackie, ny. she wants to live there purely for the name. the first thing that you see when you drive past there, is a huge rv place. oh yeah, i'm shauna. ;)

*giggle*

interesting

now Q

"hell is other people" -sartre

do you believe that? or do you believe in his philosophy (b/c what I've read is that his play was more a joke, or satire to what he truly believes, in other words, we choose how we feel, if others affect us, etc.)?

Also . . .

Your life is a Story. What is the Moral?

I am full of random Qs

I hope you are well

Re:

that quote is actually an inside joke between my friend carl and myself. we took existentialism together and we're both heavily into satire. i personally like baudrillard's philosophy...

since i believe in the fluidity of everything, i don't think i could explain the moral of my life in a concrete manner. it's all subjective and i suppose it's all a matter of where i'm coming from at the time.

hmmm...i don't think i really answered either of your questions. leave it to me to go on random, vague tangents. :)

i hope you are doing well too.

Re:

okay, baudrillard's philosophy covers a lot. i personally dealt with the relationship between the postmodern artist, barbara kruger and his work. if you are unfamiliar with kruger, she used found imagery to make a cultural critique on society and phallocentric discourse. (ie. "i shop, therefore i am. etc)

anyways, baudrillard focuses on how we are in a state of hyperreality. thus, reality does not exist and society must feign some semblance of it, in order to continue to function. this facade of reality can be applied to anything, the cultural standard of beauty being a perfect example. he also deals with semiotics, the science of signs, and how they work within society. there really is too much to mention that he works on... if you have any further questions feel free to ask. i know this was slightly vague. take care.
